Our Youth Empowered
Youth from all over the St. Louis Metro Area come together to help refurbish the old St. Peter's Lutheran Church, now called TheROCK.
Painting, electrical, plumbing, tile setting, landscaping, and loads more skills are taught by professionals from the area to these young people, giving them new skills and experiences that they put into practice right then and there.
Many Youth Mission Trips are all about "vacation" with a little Bible study thrown in for good measure. Not here: 6 am to 4 pm these young people put their heart and soul into making this place better for the community that it serves. Cuts, blisters and bruises abound, but so does the Love of Christ.
And to the people who say these young people can't do this job...
well they'll prove you wrong!
Testimonials:
"I find that I'm doing things here that I never dreamed I would be doing. I've been painting, and working on plumbing all week, but most of all, I have found new friends and real direction for my life. I have felt God's presence through people working together." -Elizabeth, Volunteer
"Working with the Youth groups all summer long has been such a blessing... the enthusiasm and energy that they bring to a project makes me stand in awe of "kids". God can use all of us in His plans."
-Tim, JC Construction supervisor
" So many times all I hear is "You can't do that" and the rest of that negativity. Here at Acts 1:8, I have not heard that. Now I have such a "can do" attitude; I see that I can do anything that I put my mind to. I have such a great family that supports me, my grandma, but also my family here at the Acts 1:8. I feel blessed that I can be part of something so God centered and wonderful." -Keke, Volunteer
